Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on Monday reiterated his call for Washington to lift sanctions on his country linked to the Caesar Act, as he visits New York for meetings of the UN General Assembly, the first participation of a Syrian president since 1967.
Speaking at a summit on the sidelines of UNGA, Sharaa said the sanctions imposed on the previous Assad regime were no longer justified and were increasingly seen by Syrians as measures targeting them directly.
