8 missing after mudslide hits village in southern China

A mountain torrent and mudslide struck a village in southern China’s Guilin city early Friday, damaging 10 houses and leaving several people suspected missing, officials said. Rescue efforts are ongoing.

At least eight people are suspected to be missing after a mountain torrent and mudslide struck a village in southern China early Friday, according to state-run media.

The incident occurred in Guilin city in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Ten houses were damaged.

Rescue efforts are underway in the area.
