In recent times, there has been an increase in attacks on the Quran in Sweden and Denmark, and allowing these provocations has been met with outrage.
Salwan Momika set fire to the Quran in front of the Stockholm Mosque on June 28, which coincided with the first day of Eid al-Adha. He did so under police protection. On July 20, Momika again, under police protection, trampled on the Quran and the Iraqi flag in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Stockholm. On July 31 and August 14, he repeated these actions in front of the Swedish Parliament building.
