Tens of thousands of Gazan children suffering from hunger

Adnan Abu Hasna, the spokesperson for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), said that for the first time this week, humanitarian aid has begun to reach the central and northern parts of the Gaza Strip. Those parts have been under intense Israeli attacks since the end of the 'humanitarian pause' on December 1. Abu Hasna reported that for about a week, 5 to 7 trucks carrying food have entered Gaza City in the central region and the northern areas. However, he pointed out that the aid is not sufficient to meet the needs of the people in the region, stating, 'Tens of thousands of people are writhing in hunger.' Emphasizing that this aid can only cover about 7% of the region's food and humanitarian needs, Abu Hasna highlighted the need to increase aid. Adnan Abu Hasna stated that for a week, the aid could not be delivered for only one day, and this was due to gunfire from the Israeli army at the aid convoy. Despite the shots fired at the convoys, he noted that they would continue to deliver aid.
