Manned and unmanned aerial vehicles produced by the Turkish defense industry are outfitted with indigenous weapons and ammunition. In this framework, national aircraft incorporate weapon systems, sensors, and ammunition developed by organizations such as ASELSAN, Roketsan, and TÜBİTAK SAGE.
This integration significantly enhances Türkiye's aircraft, particularly emphasizing the effective utilization of its national ammunition inventory. HÜRKUŞ stands out as one of the aircraft focal points for these integration efforts.
Turkish Aerospace Industries has designed the HÜRKUŞ, a new-generation advanced training and light attack aircraft, intended for use across various flight training levels, ranging from basic to advanced, as well as in fighter pilot combat readiness flight training. Additionally, the aircraft is equipped to undertake close air support missions in challenging operational environments.
The light attack and armed reconnaissance variant of HÜRKUŞ are persistently under development, aiming to deliver a cost-effective, operationally efficient, and flexible solution to counter asymmetric threats on today's battlefields.
The armed variant, designated HÜRKUŞ-C, boasts a substantial payload capacity of up to 750 kilograms. This capability is specifically designed for missions conducted at high altitudes and in challenging terrains, both during daytime and nighttime conditions.
During the recent period, HÜRKUŞ-C has undergone successful flight and firing tests, validating the seamless integration of various ammunition and equipment into the aircraft.
HÜRKUŞ, having integrated national ammunition such as the L-UMTAS Laser Guided Long Range Anti-Tank Missile System produced by Roketsan, CİRİT Laser Guided Missile, MAM-L Mini Smart Ammunition, and TOGAN Weapon System developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE, has successfully conducted firing tests, demonstrating its effectiveness and precision with these advanced weapon systems.
HÜRKUŞ-C has been integrated with the "flare" system, developed by EHSİM, offering protection against guided missiles in a multi-threat environment. This enhancement equips the aircraft with the capability to defend against heat-sensitive missiles.
Recently, the Laser Guidance Kit (LGK)-81 has been successfully integrated into HÜRKUŞ, converting the 250-lb class MK-81 general-purpose bomb into a cost-effective and smart munition with high-precision targeting capabilities. In tests conducted in Konya two weeks ago, HÜRKUŞ demonstrated its accuracy and effectiveness by making a successful shot at its target using the LGK-81, developed by ASELSAN.
HÜRKUŞ-C is set to conduct upcoming firing exercises utilizing its under-wing pod, which is equipped with a 12.7-millimeter heavy machine gun.
The integration of a heavy machine gun into HÜRKUŞ-C will provide the aircraft with close air support capability, significantly enhancing its effectiveness in supporting Land Forces operations.
