Erhan Özkul, the grandson of Şahabettin Uygun, stated that there was a need for a mosque in the area, especially due to its industrial nature causing difficulties during Friday prayers. Architect Serkan Akın, providing insight into the construction process of the mosque, explained that they designed the mosque with classical 16th-century details and were continuing the construction process with traditional materials.
Akın emphasized the use of materials such as "küfeki" stone, "almaşık" masonry, cut stone, wooden crossbeams, stainless steel connectors, lead fasteners, and truss systems during construction. He mentioned that the project was being carried out entirely with traditional materials, details, and techniques.
Akın also noted that in the 16th and 17th centuries, wooden-roofed mosques constructed within neighborhoods in the Ottoman Empire were referred to as "sakıflı cami," and the same term could be used to describe this mosque.
