Built in 1793–1794 in Tirana by Molla Bey and his son Ethem Bey, the mosque was restored between 2018 and 2021.
It was reopened for worship in 2022 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
As one of the most important surviving Ottoman architectural structures in Tirana, Ethem Bey Mosque is a key stop for those touring the Balkans from Türkiye.
