Zmbizi, a company from California, has recently presented a new mobile phone, named Zmbizi Z2, designed mainly for small and medium sized bussiness, because it is capable of receiving payments via credit cards or other contactless payment options. In addition to this, the phone pays its users for using it.
The company assures that the Z2 is not like any other mobile phone, rather it is intended to be a solution for vendors or shop owners who had to use a specific kind of hardware until now to be able to accept or make payments with cards.
Z2 aims to offer a cheaper and more compact solution to this problem. It costs roughly $550 and in addition to this it pays the user $10 a month as he or she "searches, shares and purchases from within the Zmbizi applications ecosystem".
When it comes to the specifications, Zmbizi does not provide detailed information, but it does say that it will offer a 6.67-inch IPS LCD screen along with a 4,400 mAh battery and 64MP camera. Z2 will also be housing 8GB RAM and a 128GB storage, with a USB-C port that is able to reverse charge another device. The phone also has a face-recognition sensor and a fingerprint scanner, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Another important point is that there is not an indication of any kind regarding which processor will be powering the phone. The previous model, Z1, had a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset with eight cores, but according to PC Mag, Z2 will be the American version of the Chinese phone Cubot X50, which houses a Helio P60 processor. Either way, it should be noted that these processors are not particularly high end chipsets, but it should offer enough performance in a general usage, especially for the purpose it is developed for.
Like we said, the main thing with the Zmbizi Z2 is the capacity of accepting payments through credit cards using Google Pay or Apple Pay. The company claims to collaborate with Visa regarding the Visa Tap to Phone app, which is currently being tested in Washington D.C.
For now, these payment features are available only for people whose cards are issued in United States, but Zmbizi seeks to expand to other continents too, primarily Latin America, Carribeans and Africa, places where this phone could have a better chance to find itself a place among smaller companies.
