The African company Phractyl presented an innovative conceptual design of an electric flying vehicle. It is called Macrobat, an airplane that can take off and land almost vertically with wings and legs similar to that of a bird.
This vehicle is just conceptual art for now, and three engineers want to offer with it a solution to the transportation problems and goods and vaccine shipment issues in the African continent.
The idea behind this transportation medium is that people will be able to move with more convenience across Africa. The design of the airplane also allows it to monitor from the air the situation of the infrastructures following a tragedy, apply pesticides across agricultural fields, and mobilize help in emergency cases.
The project aims to encourage the creation and innovation in the territory. According to its creators, it is an "African solution for an African problem".
In a video published by the inventors, it can be observed that the plane has two wings, a small cockpit, and a unique landing gear too. Furthermore, it is a 100% electric vehicle, given that "the solutions for making the world better should not cause damage to the planet", as explains the engineers.
