North Korea says it conducted intermediate-range strategic missile launch drill

North Korea conducted a strategic missile drill over the weekend involving an intermediate-range weapon, state media announced on Sunday. According to KCNA, supreme leader Kim Jong Un was on-site to oversee the launch exercise.

North Korea said it ⁠conducted an intermediate-range ⁠strategic missile launch drill on Saturday, ⁠with leader Kim Jong Un overseeing the exercise, state media KCNA reported ⁠on ⁠Sunday.

KCNA said the missile hit a target 1,000 km (621 miles) away in ⁠the East Sea and that the drill was aimed ⁠at ‌testing ‌and training forces ⁠operating ‌a hypersonic strategic ⁠weapon ⁠system.
