Up to 10 skiers were reported missing in heavy snowfall after an avalanche swept through a backcountry slope in California's Sierra Nevada on Tuesday, officials said.
At least six skiers survived the avalanche and remained at the scene, according to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office.
The group, consisting of four guides and 12 clients, was in the Castle Peak area near Truckee when the avalanche struck.
Rescue efforts remain underway.
