Two bear cubs found by citizens in Yenice district of Karabük and in Bingöl are being carefully cared for at the Celal Acar Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Bursa.
The cubs were handed over to the Ovakorusu Bear Shelter by the Nature Conservation and National Parks Directorate.
After being examined by veterinarians, the male cub was named "Bulut" (Cloud) and the female "Yağmur" (Rain).
Now mascots of the center, the cubs are fed six times a day with a special mix including lactose-free milk, kefir, honey, eggs, cream, and multivitamins.
"Bulut" has been under care at the center for about a month, while "Yağmur" arrived four days ago. Both will spend the rest of their lives at the shelter.
Established in 1996 under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's Nature Conservation and National Parks 2nd Regional Directorate as part of the "Freedom for Bears Project," the 10-hectare center was founded to rescue bears that were once made to perform on the streets. It is now home to 75 brown bears from across Türkiye that cannot return to the wild.
