During the live-streamed dive, one of the scientists noticed: "Something wanted to go in there... or come out." The initial speculations of the crew were that it could be some kind of eggshell or the remains of a marine sponge.
To determine what it really was, the crew used a robotic arm.
They discovered that the mysterious object has a tissue-like structure. Results are still pending in laboratory.
