Palestinian-Dutch model Gigi Hadid and her family are receiving death threats for voicing support for Palestine.
According to a TMZ report, all members of Gigi Hadid's family, including their parents Mohamed and Yolanda, have received death threats on emails, social media, and on their cell phones.
The report further indicates that phone numbers of members of the Hadid family have been leaked online in the past week. They have received threatening messages, including "graphic descriptions of how they would carry out the Hadids' executions."
The family had to change their phone numbers and are considering reaching out to the FBI.
A long-term proponent of Palestinian rights, Gigi's remarks in the wake of the Hamas attack triggered backlash from the pro-Israeli crowds and the Israeli government itself.The supermodel shared her thoughts on Tuesday, saying she has "deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation," while underscoring "a responsibility to my Jewish friends to make it clear, as I have before: While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person."A week ago, Gigi took to Instagram to express support for Palestine and condemn Israel's onward war on the Gaza Strip.
"The terrorizing of innocent people is not in alignment with & does not do any good for the 'Free Palestine' movement," she said. "The idea that it does has fueled a painful, decades-long cycle of back & forth retaliation."
In response, the official Instagram pages of the "State of Israel" tagged the supermodel in a story that said: "Have you been sleeping the past week? Or are you just fine turning a blind eye to Jewish babies being butchered in their own homes? Your silence has been very clear about where you stand. We see you"
