President Erdoğan's plane will make the first landing at the New Ercan Airport, following a three-day official visit to Gulf countries, before heading to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus , the homeland.
President Erdoğan will be welcomed at the new terminal building of Ercan Airport by KKTC President Ersin Tatar, KKTC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, and Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
After the opening, President Erdoğan and his delegation will participate in a ceremony at the Nicosia Atatürk Monument.
After laying wreaths, observing a moment of silence, and signing the special monument book, the official ceremony for the July 20 Peace and Freedom Day will be held at Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the new terminal building of Ercan Airport will change the face of the island and host wide-bodied aircraft with its increased capabilities.
He also emphasized that the airport has a capacity of 10 million passengers, and the 3,100-meter-long new runway allows for the use of all types of passenger aircraft.
The airport features 9 air bridges and a total of 30 aircraft parking spaces, including 21 open parking spaces. Ercan Airport will draw attention with its capacity of 1,500 cars in the closed parking area and state-of-the-art facilities.
