Turkish "Spider-Man" takes to streets for Gazan children

In the bustling streets and parks of Antalya, Burak Soylu, known for wearing a 'Spider-Man' costume, took a city tour to draw attention to the children who lost their lives in Israel's attacks on Gaza. Wearing his costume to amplify the voices of children living under the shadow of war in Gaza, which is under Israeli blockade, Burak Soylu walked the city's busy streets and alleys with photos of massacres, carrying a message that reads, 'Let the war in Gaza stop, be the real hero.' Born into a family involved in tourism, Soylu started mimicking the fictional superhero Spider-Man's dance, upside-down poses, and web-slinging moves from a young age, as he dearly loved the character. Walking the streets and alleys in his 'Spider-Man' costume, Soylu became known in the city as the 'Spider-Man of Antalya.' Also known for his social responsibility efforts, Soylu visited the region after the Elazığ earthquake to entertain children affected by the disaster with his performances. He also drew attention for his assistance to citizens over 65 years old who couldn't go out due to COVID-19 measures. SHOWING THE HARSH REALITY OF WAR IN TOURIST-HEAVY AREAS Carrying the writings 'No to war' and 'Let the war in Gaza stop, be the real hero,' and posing like 'Spider-Man,' Soylu tries to attract people's attention. Speaking to an AA correspondent, Soylu said he tries to help people in social events and disasters and cannot remain silent, especially in events concerning children. He said: Explaining that he tries to attract attention with photos and messages depicting the human tragedy in Gaza, Soylu concluded his words by saying, 'Even if tourists say when they return to their countries, 'Superhero Spider-Man is doing anti-war actions in the streets of Antalya,' it could create awareness around them.
