He revealed that the completion of the border wall in December 2020 has played a crucial role in this success. Since then, approximately 13,800 cases of irregular migrants attempting to cross the border have been successfully prevented. These numbers represent the successful prevention of illegal entry into the country.
Furthermore, Varol shared that within their borders, they have apprehended approximately 2,250 individuals who have violated immigration laws. Among these individuals, around 2,060 were categorized as other immigrants. Following proper legal procedures, they have been processed and deported in compliance with international law.
Varol took notice of the significant efforts being made to combat migrant smugglers, stating that they have taken serious action against these criminal activities. As a result, 87 suspects involved in migrant smuggling have been apprehended this year. Among them, 23 individuals have been arrested, and 23 vehicles used for smuggling purposes have been confiscated.
Speaking about the overall security situation at the border, Varol emphasized the effectiveness of the integrated border security system and its impact on ensuring safety. With the completion of this system across all borders, they have established well-spaced and adequately manned border posts.
The high level of security provided by this system has made it nearly impossible for terrorist organizations to penetrate the border. As a result, terrorist incidents in the province have significantly decreased, becoming a distant memory for the citizens.
