Located in Bağcılar, resembling a tunnel from a distance, stands out as one of Istanbul's forgotten historical spots. While it is presumed to be a chapel, there are surrounding businesses and a school above it.
Archaeologist Ömer Faruk Yavaşçay, responding to questions from NTV reporter Sinan Kunter, said he noticed the historical building while conducting research on city maps.
Archaeologist Yavaşçay points out that in some old maps, the structure is identified as "Ayazma," which means holy water for Orthodox Christians. He emphasizes that during the Ottoman period, there was a Greek village in the area and most likely, the structure was built by the inhabitants of the Greek Village in the late 1800s.
