A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck off the coast of Taitung County in eastern Taiwan on Thursday, national news agency CNA reported, citing the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

The quake hit at a shallow depth of 12.5 km beneath the epicenter near Taitung at 1:09 p.m. (local time).

There were no immediate reports of damage following the quake.
