Kuwait said an electricity generation and water desalination plant was attacked early Friday, causing material damage to parts of the facility.
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said in a statement that the incident occurred at dawn on April 3, when an Iranian attack targeted the site, damaging some of its components.
Ministry spokesperson Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat said technical and emergency teams responded immediately under contingency plans to manage the impact and maintain operations, while coordinating with security and other authorities to secure the area.
The incident comes shortly after a drone strike triggered a fire at parts of Kuwait's Mina Al-Ahmadi oil refinery. Emergency crews were deployed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said.
The region has been on alert since the US and Israel launched an air offensive on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel along with Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
