Hamas denied responsibility on Tuesday for an attack on Israeli forces in the southern Gaza city of Rafah that prompted Israel to launch attacks in Gaza.
The Palestinian resistance group also said in a statement that it remained committed to the U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal in Gaza.
Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli media had reported an exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Hamas fighters in Rafah. The Israeli military did not respond to a request for comment on the reports.
