Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed "deep concern" over recent armed clashes in Syria during a call with Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Friday, the Kremlin said.

"Expressing deep concern over the recent upsurge in violence in the country, the leaders stressed the importance of rapidly stabilising the situation through dialogue," the Kremlin said in its readout of the call.
