President Vladimir Putin has invited 40 new people to join Russia's Civic Chamber - a committee made up of representatives from civil society who oversee legislation, the Kremlin said on Friday.

"The President has identified 40 Russian citizens who have rendered special services to the state and society, and sent them a proposal to join the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation," the Kremlin said, according to TASS news agency.
