80-year-old Russian volunteer ready for World Cup 2018

The oldest world cup volunteer Nikolai Stepin, who is 80 years old, proudly showed off his olympic trophies in Moscow, Tuesday, as he looked forward to the upcoming 2018 World Cup, due to be held in Russia.

The pensioner always wanted to take part in the world cup and he finally managed to fulfill his dream: Stepin registered as a volunteer, becoming the oldest registered volunteer at the world championship tournament.

Nikolai Stepin: "I saw an announcement in the newspaper: 'We are searching for volunteers over the age of 55, under the age of 80."

However, this is not going to be the first experience of volunteer work for Nikolai Stepin. In the past, he had already been a volunteer at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, the Universiade in Kazan, the tank biathlon and the confederation cup last year.

Stepin carefully stored pictures, documents, certificates, jackets and medals from all the events, which he displayed to the cameras. One of the certificates was even signed by Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

The octogenarian is especially proud of his olympic trophies - a jacket and a backpack.

Stepin wears the olympic uniform from Sochi 2014 as he has not received the 2018 World Cup uniform yet. According to him, he will receive it on June 14, during the first session of volunteering.
