Lebanese president condemns attack on UN peacekeepers that killed French soldier

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned on Saturday an attack on the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) that killed a French soldier and wounded three other personnel.

During a phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, Aoun said he instructed relevant authorities to "immediately" probe the incident that was carried out by "armed individuals' in Ghanduriyah village.

Aoun also vowed to prosecute those responsible and offered his condolences to Macron.
