Türkiye to deliver critical messages at UNGA to stop Israel's oppression in Gaza

Türkiye, which has become the 'conscience of the world' by standing against oppression in every crisis, has been the country to take the clearest stance against Israel's genocide in Gaza. Leading numerous international initiatives to end the genocide and keeping the truth high on the global agenda through active diplomacy, Ankara is set to deliver striking messages on this issue at the upcoming United Nations (UN) General Assembly this month. Türkiye is expected to emphasize that Israel, which is committing genocide in Palestine, must be 'isolated' by the international community until it stops its massacres. Türkiye will work more closely with countries that share a similar roadmap, understanding, and policy to end the massacres. Together, they will take planned and systematic steps. Türkiye, the only country to have completely cut trade ties with Israel, will send the message that other nations should follow the same path to end Israel's massacre. In particular, Türkiye will urge that Israel be denied access to its sea, air, and land routes for the shipment of weapons and ammunition. Ankara does not allow container ships carrying weapons and ammunition to Israel to enter its ports, nor does it permit airplanes to use its airspace. Meanwhile, Turkish ships are also barred from docking at Israeli ports. Countries condemning the massacre by Israel's war machine will be urged to take similar measures. The vital importance of halting arms transfers will be emphasized. Efforts to end the oppression in Gaza will continue across all fronts—legal, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, and political. Since October 7, 2023, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan have clearly communicated the situation in Gaza to their counterparts in international forums and bilateral talks. Their efforts have influenced many countries to express their intention to recognize Palestine and support a two-state solution. Currently, 150 countries recognize Palestine. The UK, France, Canada, Malta, New Zealand, Portugal, and Austria have expressed their intention to recognize Palestine. It is expected that Türkiye may convene with countries leaning toward recognizing Palestine at the UN General Assembly. Meanwhile, the urgency of delivering humanitarian aid to Palestine will be highlighted, with a clear call for the international community and global public conscience to take action based on concrete realities.
