Units affiliated with the Syrian Army fired the Ramadan cannon at iftar time at the Unknown Soldier Monument in Damascus for the first time in 14 years.
The event, organized to revive one of Syria's traditional Ramadan customs, was held with the participation of military personnel at the Ministry of Defense.
This tradition, which has become one of the symbols of Ramadan, is widely practiced in Arab and Islamic countries.
In Syria, the Ramadan cannon had not been fired for nearly 14 years due to security concerns and restrictions on the use of weapons following the outbreak of the civil war in 2011 during the Bashar al-Assad regime.
