Gazan children protest food shortage in conflict-hit enclave amid Israel's deadly attacks

Palestinian children who took shelter in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip protested the food shortage due to Israel's intense attacks and occupation since October 7, 2023. Days before the month of Ramadan, the children demanded an end to the attacks, holding signs that read, 'Children are dying of hunger' and 'Enough, help us.' The protests by Palestinian children in Rafah highlight the desperate conditions faced by many Gazans, particularly children who are vulnerable to malnutrition and other health issues due to the lack of adequate food and resources. Israel has waged a deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, killing more than 30,700 and injuring over 72,000 others amid mass destruction and shortages of necessities. The Israeli war has pushed 85% of Gaza's population into internal displacement amid acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, while 60% of the enclave's infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN. Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
