The research company Global Firepower, based in the United States, has published the ranking of the world's most powerful militaries. According to this ranking, Türkiye has risen by 3 ranks from the previous year to reach the 8th position. It has also climbed to the 3rd position among NATO countries. While Türkiye is bolstering its military strength, the situation in Europe is quite different. Many countries are on the brink of a military crisis. Leading NATO countries are struggling to find personnel for their armies, and the number of trained personnel is dwindling. The countries most affected by the military crisis in Europe are Germany, the United Kingdom, and Greece. In the UK, the number of personnel leaving the Armed Forces exceeds the number of recruits. In Germany, there are discussions about employing immigrants to address the shortage of soldiers. The Greek Navy has also been shaken by mass resignations. The military personnel shortage is not the only issue in Europe. Officials point out that the armies are facing ammunition shortages, with a significant portion of the ammunition being sent to Ukraine. It is emphasized that it will take 10 years for Europe to become fully prepared for self-defense. While the military crisis in Europe deepens day by day, officials are searching for solutions. Can Acun, a researcher at SETA, made the following comments to TRT News: With its military deterrent and power, Türkiye is among the top countries within NATO. Türkiye's capacity has far surpassed that of other continental European countries. We can anticipate that countries in continental Europe will now focus on their national interests and try to establish their security within the framework of their own interests. But they need a considerable amount of time for this. Ultimately, continental Europe has realized that if it wants to ensure its security, it cannot rely solely on the United States. It must also establish good relations with Türkiye and benefit from the capabilities of the Turkish military.
