Türkiye marks 26 years since 1999 Marmara earthquake
The deadly 7.4 magnitude quake killed over 17,000 people and left nearly 200,000 homeless, with recovery and urban transformation efforts continuing decades later.
Through urban transformation efforts led by ministries, TOKİ (the Housing Development Administration of Türkiye), and other institutions, significant recovery was achieved.
