Türkiye enhances border security measures along the Türkiye-Iran border

Türkiye's security forces stationed along the Türkiye-Iran border are continuously monitoring the border line day and night in their efforts to combat irregular migration. They utilize various security measures such as electro-optic towers, thermal cameras, ACAR Ground Radar Systems, modular concrete walls, and trenches. The primary objective of these high-level security measures along the Türkiye-Iran border is to prevent the illegal crossing of irregular migrants, as well as to thwart smuggling activities and the infiltration of terrorists. These security efforts are part of the Border Physical Security System Project initiated by the Presidency and coordinated by the Ministry of Interior's Directorate General of Provincial Administration and Border Management. In the Ağrı region of the Türkiye-Iran border, a security wall spanning 83.6 kilometers has been constructed as part of this project. In the province of Van, which shares the longest border with Iran, 127 kilometers of the 180-kilometer section that was tendered for wall construction has been completed. Additionally, 160 kilometers of security road have been built in the ongoing efforts conducted by 12 contracting firms. In the Van section of the border, where trench digging operations are ongoing, out of 103 electro-optic towers used for communication and surveillance purposes, 71 have been completed, and work continues on delivering the remaining 32. Border units and commandos work day and night using the full capabilities of technology to ensure security along the border, prevent unauthorized crossings, and maintain constant vigilance. The security forces employ various tools, including the indigenous and national Şahingöz thermal camera developed by ASELSAN, which can detect from a distance of 10 kilometers, the ACAR Ground Surveillance Radar System capa They patrol the area using tactical armored vehicles named 'HIZIR,' inspecting tunnels with tunnel search devices, and conducting reconnaissance and surveillance around the security wall and its vicinity with unmanned aerial vehicles. The security forces remain vigilant in their duty to prevent irregular migrants, members of separatist terrorist organizations, and smugglers from entering or exiting the country within their designated responsibilities.
