A nation's destiny was determined 106 years ago in Sivas. Under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Pasha, delegates from all over the country met at the Sivas Congress to lay out the roadmap for the National Struggle. At the congress, which convened on September 4, 1919, the mandate and protectorate were rejected, and the foundation of the Republic was laid.
Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk continued the national struggle for liberation, which he started in Samsun on May 19, 1919, by arriving in Sivas, a city he saw as a "safe city," on June 27, 1919, after Amasya.
