Presidential Children's Orchestra and Choir to perform for first time on April 23

The Presidential Children's Orchestra and Choir, established by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye with the aim of preserving our traditional music and training the musicians of the future, will give its first concert on April 23, National Sovereignty and Children's Day, at the Presidential Complex. Known as 'the first orchestra and choir of the Century of Türkiye,' it will perform with its inaugural concert. The Presidential Children's Orchestra and Choir, which began its activities in 2024, was established after talent screenings in October, where 250 children were selected from nearly a thousand candidates. The Presidential Children's Orchestra and Choir, which covers the age group of 8-13, divided the children into two groups based on their interests and talents: orchestra and choir. Within the orchestra, specific classes were formed for each instrument, including Violin, Bağlama, Oud, Clarinet, Kemenche, Kanun, Ney, Percussion, Flute, Piano, Guitar, Cello, and Double Bass. The training began in November 2024. In the project, which involves a total of 50 coordinators, instructors, and pedagogues from the Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Family and Social Services, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Directorate General of Primary Education, Directorate General of Fine Arts, Ankara State Opera and Ballet, Presidential Symphony Orchestra, State Turkish Folk Music Choir, Turkish World Community Choir, Ankara Music and Fine Arts University, Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory, and Fine Arts High Schools, students receive training every weekend at the Presidential Complex. They have two full days of education in Turkish Art Music, Turkish Folk Music, Classical Music, and Popular Music. The Presidential Children's Orchestra and Choir, which initially aimed to preserve traditional music and instruments, also encompasses universal musical diversity and seeks to train the artists of the future. It holds the distinction of being the first orchestra of the Century of Türkiye. The Presidential Children's Orchestra and Choir aims both to pass on the melodies of our ancient culture to future generations and to contribute to the emotional, individual, social, and cultural development of our children through music. The Presidential Children's Orchestra and Choir, conducted by Prof. Burak Tüzün and choir led by Hülya Kazan, will give its first concert on April 23 at the Presidential Complex, with a 222-member ensemble and a colorful repertoire. The Presidential Children's Orchestra and Choir, established with the collaboration of four ministries and two universities, and supported by Türk Telekom, will continue to grow in the Century of Türkiye, reaching all the beautiful children of our country.
