In Yusufeli district of Artvin, the old settlement area has re-emerged as the dam waters have receded. Following the activation of the Yusufeli Dam in November 2022, the district center and surrounding villages were submerged underwater. As the water level dropped, the remains of buildings and a mosque minaret from the old district center have become visible again.
