The Underwater Defense Group Command teams dived into the sea and marked the location of the ammunition.
It was reported that the 28 artillery shells, which were identified, would be destroyed on Wednesday, August 2nd.
The Istanbul Governorate made the following statement regarding the issue:
"As a result of the visual inspections carried out by the Naval Forces Command, SAS Group Command, the suspicious objects were identified as artillery shells. On July 30th at 10:00, the SAS team of the SAS Group Command conducted a dive, and at least 28 pieces of ammunition were detected at the mentioned location. Out of the detected ammunition, 8 that could be safely removed were brought ashore with the approval of the Şile Duty Prosecutor for identification and disposal and then handed over to the SAS Group Command. The SAS teams continue their scanning activities in the area. The disposal of the detected ammunition will take place on August 2nd, Wednesday, after necessary safety measures are taken."
