3.5 Million Cubic Meters of Sediment Cleaned from Türkiye,Ankaras Mogan Lake

Minister Mehmet Özhaseki shared on his social media account: "With the joint effort of our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change and our Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, we have removed 3.5 million cubic meters of sediment through the Mogan Lake Bottom Sediment Cleaning Project that we initiated in 2016. With this project, Mogan Lake has regained its former beauty and continues to be a habitat for aquatic life and birds, as well as becoming a social space for our citizens to enjoy, with children's play areas, rest spots, walking and cycling paths that we've established around it."

The studies conducted within the scope of the project "Paleoclimatological and Origin Examination of Mogan and Eymir Lakes," supported by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), revealed that the history of these two important lakes in Ankara dates back 8,000 years.
