One of the most well-known structures in the Caucasus is Muhtarov Mosque, located in the city of Vladikavkaz, which belongs to the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania in the Russian Federation. The mosque takes its name from Murtaza Muhtarov, who financed its construction. Muhtarov Mosque was constructed by the Polish architect Jozef Ploszko, who drew inspiration from the Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo. The mosque features a predominantly Gothic architectural style throughout its structure.
