Iran on Sunday warned it would retaliate if European powers exploit a UN report showing it has stepped up production of highly enriched uranium.

In a phone call, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi urged UN nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi to stop "parties from exploiting" the agency for political ends, according to a statement, referring to Britain, France and Germany, who have warned they could reimpose sanctions if Iran's nuclear programme threatens the continent's security.
