At least 16 people were killed after rain-triggered mudslides and landslides struck eastern China's Jiangxi province, state media reported Thursday.
The disaster, the latest in a series of similar incidents in recent months, occurred in Suichuan County, said Xinhua News Agency, citing local authorities.
Days of torrential rain caused a series of geological disasters in the county.
Authorities had evacuated more than 18,000 residents of the county as of Wednesday afternoon.
