6 magnitude earthquake jolts Volcano Islands in Japan
A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Japan’s Volcano Islands early Monday in the North Pacific, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences. The shallow quake hit at a depth of 20 km about 283 km from the Northern Mariana Islands, with no reported damage or casualties.

A 6 magnitude earthquake jolted the Volcano Islands, Japan, on Monday, without causing any losses, the German Research Centre for Geosciences said.
The earthquake occurred at 0355 GMT in the North Pacific Ocean at a shallow depth of 20 kilometers (12 miles), some 283 km (176 mi) from the Northern Mariana Islands.
The epicenter was initially determined to be at 23.12 degrees north latitude and 144.30 degrees east longitude.
