Ukraine's ambassador to the United Nations denounced Russia as a "terrorist state" Monday during an urgent General Assembly meeting to discuss Moscow's annexation of four Ukrainian regions.
"Russia has proven once again, that this is a terrorist state that must be deterred in the strongest possible ways," said Sergiy Kyslytsya, speaking after Russia launched a deadly barrage of missile strikes at cities across Ukraine.
At the start of the emergency session of the UN General Assembly, Ukraine also called on the world community to condemn Russia's annexation of parts of its neighbouring country in violation of international law.
The so-called referendums bore no relation to what we call the expression of the will of the people - neither from a legal nor from a technical point of view, Ukrainian UN Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya said in New York on Monday.
He called on the largest UN body to adopt a resolution demanding that Russia reverse its actions.
