Up to 250,000 people marched in solidarity with Ukraine in the western German city of Cologne, police said, replacing the traditional Rose Monday carnival celebration with a protest against Russia's invasion.
The carnival street festival had been called off this year because of the coronavirus pandemic. But organisers decided instead to hold a peace march for Ukraine.
