The footages newly released by the Asheville police department have uncovered that police violence in the U. S. remains a problem, and showing that Shristopher Hickman -- an American police officer -- choked and punched a black man, who was detained for jaywalking, several times.
The incident happened last year in August but gained media attention after a local newspaper leaked the footage.
According to local media, Hickman was suspended the next day and had resigned from the police department in January.
