Two former navy officers, Alfredo Astiz the so-called 'Angel of Death', and Jorge Eduardo Acosta nicknamed "The Tiger", have been sentenced to life in prison for their involvement in the torture and murder of hundreds of political opponents. The crimes occurred during a period dubbed "The Dirty War" between 1976 and 1983 under military rule, in Argentina.
