Turkey's inflation stands at 1.31 pct in April

Turkey's consumer price index (CPI) rose by 1.31 percent in April, bringing annual inflation to 11.87 from 11,29 percent in the previous month, according to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Wednesday.

The latest increase brought the annual inflation rate to its highest level since April 2012.

The rise on the 12 months moving averages basis was 8,66 percent in April.

In April 2017, the highest monthly increase was in clothing and footwear category with 9.13 percent, followed by the miscellaneous goods and services category with1.26 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 1.23 percent, cafes and restaurants with 0.96 percent and, furnishing and household equipment with 0.94 percent.

The only monthly decrease was seen in the communication category with 0.02 percent.

The highest annual increase was in alcoholic beverages and tobacco category with 21.65 percent, followed by transportation with 17.94 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 15.63 percent, miscellaneous goods and services with 13.68 percent and health with 13.32 percent.
