After a preparation period of about one year to completely clear the enemy forces from our country, on August 26, 1922, Commander-in-Chief Mustafa Kemal Pasha gave the order to launch the Great Offensive.
Following the operation that began at dawn with artillery fire, the Turkish soldiers launched an assault at the first light of day, captured Tınaztepe, and drove the enemy from Belentepe and Kalecik Sivrisi. When August 30 arrived, the final order to attack was given from a battle map spread on a broken oxcart.
