A registered Bergama carpet featured in the work of Dutch 17th-century painter Pieter de Hooch is being revived in its homeland. As part of a project led by Gülay Fitöz, who lives in the Netherlands, the carpet is being woven by women in Bergama, İzmir, in accordance with the original.
For the project, Fitöz selected the painting "A Woman Playing a Lute in a Respectable Interior and a Singing Couple" by the artist and came to Bergama for it to be woven by the women in its homeland.
