Vervet monkeys, one of the most widespread monkey species across large parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, have started giving birth with the onset of the rainy season. After a gestation period of about 5.5 months, the newborn monkeys spend most of their days clinging tightly to and nursing from their mothers.
