In the catastrophic event that took place in Kahramanmaraş on February 6th, over 50 thousand citizens lost their lives, while more than a hundred thousand people were injured.
The disaster, which saw thousands of homes destroyed, resulted in a bill exceeding 100 billion dollars. Following the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, an increase in the number of earthquakes in the region was observed.
The frequent earthquakes occurring in and around Erzurum in recent months have caused fear. As a result of these recurrent earthquakes, studies focusing on fault line maps have come into play. The General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration has initiated a research project concerning earthquakes that have occurred in areas not previously considered as fault lines.
