Farha is a Jordanian movie that tells the story of a girl from Palestine who tries to fulfill her dreams, premiered in 2021, but it only came to Netflix last Thursday, December 1.
Currently, it is a candidate for the Oscars in the category of "Best International Film" due to its captivating plot, but at the same time, it also generated some reaction from Israeli authorities as they felt offended.
Farha, the work of Jordanian writer-director Darin J. Sallam, has also been chosen to represent Jordan at the 95th Academy Awards to compete in the International Feature Film category for the year 2023.
Inspired by true events, it tells a tragic story from the perspective of a 14-year-old Palestinian girl living with her father in a small town in Palestine Mandate in 1948.
But, their lives are shattered when the village is attacked by Israeli soldiers. In the chaos and horror, Farha's father locks her in her pantry for her safety before leaving to help defend the village.
